Zazzle’s Trial Brief asserts based on discovery that Greg Young Publishing earned only ~$72,000 in conventional licensing revenues from 2012-2016. Zazzle also surveyed Greg Young Publishing’s ordinary licensing deals and calculated that, if Greg Young Publishing had hypothetically copied its best existing royalty arrangement onto all of the products Zazzle sold, Greg Young Publishing’s royalties would have been ~$1,438. Even the absolute minimum statutory damages for each of the 35 registrations would have amounted to $7,000, or 9% of GYP’s total licensing revenue over 4 years.

No wonder, then, that Greg Young Publishing has been a plaintiff in 11 other copyright actions since 2013!
