I am tired of the anti-trust issues with Google Inc also but appreciate this list of links to al the dead-horses that need no further beating. Most of the inevitable future was left out of one old discussion. What Would a Government-Operated Search Engine Look Like in the US?

The more relevant question follows.

What will the FCC search engine look like and what does Title II common carrier regulation of the current wire communications joining with radio communications look like when the FCC resumes the mission given in the Communications Act of 1934 in clear English text?

================== FUTURE ===========================
1. The regulated nternet will be free and be EVERYWHERE you hear FM radio stations today.

2. The regulated nternet will allow a scientist in Iran to communicate with a Chinese scientist and an American scientist so the best minds on Earth can develop safe, clean nuclear energy because this technology has existed and been known for close to one-hundred years.

3. Broadcasting pornography to the anonymous will be a quick, clear pathway to prison. Creation and consumption of pornography by authenticated parties will continue and be wildly profitable after the end of free porn. Free pornography broadcasting is currently a felony crime not being prosecuted that will help with privatization of prisons very soon.

4. The regulated nternet will allow a scientist in Iran to communicate with a Chinese scientist and an American scientist so the best minds on Earth can develop cures for cancer, ALS, paralysis and other "insurmountable" human troubles including negotiating world-peace and ending hunger.

5. The FCC search-engine will have a publicly accessible search algorithm that can be adjusted by each user. Fairness and relevance of search results will be controllable by the searcher as could always have been done and is done TODAY for each search at Google Inc based on geolocation.

6. The "fair-use" snippet that created Google Inc will be recognized as abuse of another author's creation if not requested and paid for when used.

7. The moronic "fair-use" SDNY Court allowance for Google Inc to scan library books and use these books without paying the authors or even obtaining permission will be recognized as the trespass offense it always was.

8. Playboy® magazine will quickly return to profitability as will other print magazines and newspapers currently struggling to compete against the free/indulgence in content or content theft allowed for Google Inc searches for the last 18 years.

9. The FCC search engine will have customizable subscriptions that do not present advertisements but provide news and weather results no other online search will be allowed to present without paying the news-gatherers license fees. These subscriptions will allow for quickly balancing the budget and offsetting taxes.

10. No fairly intelligent human today trusts Google Inc searches to be simply reports on how the nteret really is. Billions of humans still do. Fewer readers of this BLOG than the public.

===========================================================

A subscription search consolidator partnering with content websites and running absolutely no ads is currently being developed. This search engine will require robots.txt file invitations for content harvested including the price of using this content with by-directory and even a by-file granularity. This subscription search consolidator will eventually partner with only websites that completely bar indexing by Google Inc. This subscription search consolidator will track ALL Google Inc advertisers and list them and discourage visiting businesses that support Google Inc or any other search harvesting unsolicited indexing or indexing unrated JPG files.

This is how the nternet would/should have developed if Reno v ACLU had not established the American civil right to view pornography anonymously as will VERY SOON END.
