If a website was manipulated in such a way that violated Google terms of use and its' Pagerank, I'm confident that Google has another system to manually penalized the website for its' action.

Keep in mind that all softwares are created by a person or a group of people and there will be flaws. With this in mind, there has to be way to manually override certain automated functions such a Googlebot.

Eric, regarding kinderstart.com vs Google, what is your take on Google help desk's claim that updates are completely automated and yet they specifically ask you to manually report "spammy" sites. Doesn't Google run the risk of having a disgruntled employee who may come forward and dispute this assumed Google algo "purity"?

Thanks for pointing out the complaint on your blog, Eric (or for posting it, if it wasn't you who pointed it out).

I completely agree with your assessment. I think if the 17200 claim is argued well, it will get through summary judgment but still lose (at least mostly) eventually. But I'm not an expert on any of this.

(Nice to run into another JD/MBA who spent time at Cooley!)
